Many people have trouble configuring their monitors to the right size after the installation. The file /lib/vgadb contains definitions for the most common display sizes and some peculiar hardware that Bell Labs or other 9fans have used. Once you've found the desirable size, set monitor= to that name in plan9.ini(8). If you can't find an appropriate monitor entry, you can add your own using the instructions in [Adding a monitor to vgadb]. If your plan9.ini file isn't located in /n/9fat/plan9.ini, type ! 9fat: For example, this entry is being typed on a T30 laptop with 1400x1050 display. The plan9.ini on this machine has the following entry: ! monitor=t23 You can also change the resolution afterwards with aux/vga. Have a look at vga(8) for all details. In short: ! aux/vga -m vesa -l 1280x1024x16 or ! aux/vga -m vga -l to reset the display to a known state.
